One of the most quiet yet most consequential transformations in the mobile gaming market is unfolding within the puzzle category. Ad-driven, quickly consumed "brain teasers" are giving way to "hybrid puzzle" games built on deep meta layers, collection mechanics, and IAP-led monetization models. Within this segment, IAP spend has reached approximately 2.5x that of classic logic puzzles. Moreover, in 2025-Q1 alone, the top 10 hybrid puzzle titles combined generated nearly $87M in net IAP revenue. The category is no longer a niche subgenre; it has become a multi-billion-dollar gateway on a global scale.
It is with great enthusiasm that we are announcing our investment in Mindtail, leading a $2M pre-seed round to build the next global player behind that gateway. The round was joined by Inveo Ventures and Ak Portföy. Mindtail was founded by Tamer Özgen, Umut Yıldız, Sarper Karabağ, and Doğuşcan Öztürk, and has since expanded with Ece Özgüle, who brings her King experience into the Art Director seat, forming a team that emerges directly from the heart of the category. The founding team carries a track record shaped by leadership roles in product, growth, development, and publishing across billion-dollar-scale titles such as Royal Match, Royal Kingdom, Lily's Garden, Candy Crush Soda, and the Braindom series, having managed 300M+ players and generated $20M+ in direct revenue to date. This DNA, accumulated through reference points such as Dream Games, King, Tactile, and Ace Games, transforms Mindtail's starting position from coincidence into competitive advantage.
Mindtail's point of differentiation is not limited to the intent of building a great game; it lies in the production model itself. The team is rebuilding its art and level design pipelines around an AI-native architecture. The picture we observe in the field is striking: at the same quality bar, the team achieves up to 4x faster art production, approximately 80% cost savings, and 1.5x faster prototyping compared to traditional production. In practice, this translates into a team of 10 producing AAA-grade live-ops content and pulling time-to-market forward by 2 to 3 months, directly converting the per-iteration economic disadvantage of a hit-driven category into a structural advantage. The stack, composed of tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Kaedim, Meshy.ai, Layer.ai, Midjourney, and Suno, unlocks speed without compromising creative control.
There is hardly a more fitting geography than Türkiye in which to operationalize this model. The Turkish gaming ecosystem carries an M&A history of approximately $5 billion, anchored by reference valuations such as Peak at $1.8B and Dream Games at $5B. Moreover, Turkish studios have consistently transacted at a +3x revenue multiple above the global revenue multiple band, validating a durable premium. The maturity reached in retention, monetization, and live-ops discipline explains precisely why this premium has been earned. Mindtail is the natural inheritor of this accumulated know-how, and by layering an AI-native production model on top, the company stands as a strong candidate to define the next stage of Turkish studio practice.
Three core axes shaped our investment conviction: the operational DNA of a team that has shipped global hits at scale; the framing of AI not as a "feature" but as a fundamental redesign of the entire production economy; and the directional and timing maturity of the hybrid puzzle market that validates Mindtail's thesis. We expect the team to announce its first titles in the near term. Looking ahead, the roadmap includes the launch of multiple prototypes and a planned 3x expansion of the team.
