Werk raises $150K investment from APY Ventures

Werk, which received a $150K seed investment from APY Ventures Startup Venture Capital Investment Fund, offers an end-to-end solution addressing collaboration, productivity, and communication needs—areas that have become essential for teams with the lasting shift toward remote and hybrid work, accelerated by the pandemic.

Founded in August 2020 by Emin Görgün, Baran Öncel, and Saim Emre Kanat, Werk provides a holistic service with features such as communication, task tracking, documentation, file sharing, task calendars, and more within different channels that users can create for various projects, sprints, and teams. Werk also eliminates the clutter of digital tools that teams struggle to manage, offering a better experience and workflow.

“We believe Werk will meet a major need”

Albaraka Türk, which continues its goal of becoming the world’s best participation bank, keeps investing in Turkey’s startup ecosystem. Emin Özer, General Manager of Albaraka Portföy Yönetimi, a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank, stated that they continue to support entrepreneurs for the development of Turkey’s startup ecosystem and added:

“Especially with the changes in working life during the pandemic, remote and hybrid work have become permanent and gained great momentum. We believe Werk will meet a major need in this area. Startup VCIF is the first Venture Capital Investment Fund traded on Borsa Istanbul, where all investors interested in the startup ecosystem can easily invest. With Werk, Startup VCIF has made its 10th investment in the last year.”

The goal: to provide productivity for teams of all sizes on a global scale

Werk aims not only to be a digital tool used by remote teams but also to directly impact ways of working and become part of the workflow as a team member. By enabling the management of all processes on a single platform, Werk offers an easy-to-use experience that can be adopted by both non-tech teams and highly tech-adaptive teams.

Voice Chat that simplifies daily team communication

One of the main problems Werk focuses on is inefficient video meetings. With its asynchronous and synchronous voice chat feature developed to address this issue, Werk provides an alternative to video meetings by enabling faster, more efficient, and more dynamic communication through voice channels. This allows teams to communicate as if they were side by side in an office without needing to organize video calls for short meetings or information exchange. Additionally, it enables asynchronous collaboration for remote and hybrid teams, eliminating communication issues across different time zones and allowing discussions without the necessity of being present at the same time.

Task management tool enabling end-to-end process management

In addition to tech teams that have long used various task management tools, remote and hybrid work has made such tools a necessity for non-technical teams as well. However, due to the complexity of existing tools, Werk has simplified task management to make it usable without any training. Offering a highly flexible and customizable task management tool, Werk also stands out with task management templates tailored for different teams.

More than messaging: Thread Chat

Another feature of Werk that facilitates team communication is thread chat. Unlike traditional messaging, it allows users to create threads for specific topics, eliminating confusion about which message belongs to which topic and who is being replied to.

Enriched documents: Hyperdocs

Werk emphasizes that documentation is not just a series of texts but an essential element that should integrate well with other features. Therefore, it enables hyperdocs to integrate with tasks, allows multiple users to work on the same document simultaneously, and ensures that document sharing during communication is simple and effective.
